Getting started

The basics you need to know before playing FootballScoreClub.

What is FootballScoreClub?+
FootballScoreClub is a private football prediction game. Players compete by predicting the exact scores of three selected fixtures in each FootballScoreClub round.
How many players can be in a league?+
A league needs at least 2 players to begin and can have a maximum of 8 players.
How many fixtures do we predict?+
Every FootballScoreClub round contains exactly 3 selected fixtures. Every participating player predicts all three.
Can the three fixtures come from different competitions?+
Yes. The three selected fixtures can come from different eligible football competitions, provided they fall within the relevant FootballScoreClub round window.

Rounds

How FootballScoreClub groups fixtures and when prediction periods begin.

What is a FootballScoreClub round?+
FootballScoreClub uses its own rounds rather than following the official gameweek numbering of an individual football competition. Each round contains three selected fixtures.
What are the FootballScoreClub round windows?+
There are two round windows: Friday–Monday and Tuesday–Thursday.
When do predictions open for a Friday–Monday round?+
Player 1 opens at 10:00am UK time on Monday, four days before the round begins on Friday.
When do predictions open for a Tuesday–Thursday round?+
Player 1 opens at 10:00am UK time on Friday, four days before the round begins on Tuesday.
Is the prediction deadline based on the FootballScoreClub round window?+
No. The hard deadline is based on the first of the three selected fixtures. It is always 11:00pm UK time on the night before that fixture kicks off.

Prediction order & timing

When each player can predict and what happens if somebody takes too long.

Why is there a prediction order?+
The order is part of the game. Predicting earlier gives a player the first opportunity to claim particular scorelines, so the starting player rotates from round to round.
How does the prediction order rotate?+
The starting player moves forward by one position each round. The order does not reverse.

For example: Alex → Ben → Chris → Dana becomes Ben → Chris → Dana → Alex in the next round.
When can Player 1 predict?+
Player 1 opens at 10:00am UK time, four days before the FootballScoreClub round begins.
When can the other players predict?+
Player 2 onwards each have a scheduled fallback unlock time. These are spaced two hours apart and work backwards from the 11:00pm hard deadline.
Do I have to wait for my fallback time if the previous player submits early?+
No. If the player immediately before you submits their predictions, your turn opens immediately.
What does my fallback time mean?+
It is the time you are guaranteed to gain access, even if the player before you has still not submitted.
Is my fallback time also my deadline?+
No. It is an unlock time, not a closing time. Once you have access, you can submit any time before the universal 11:00pm hard deadline.
Can two players be eligible to predict at the same time?+
Yes. If an earlier player has not submitted by the time a later player's fallback unlock arrives, both can be eligible to submit.
What is the final prediction deadline?+
The hard deadline is 11:00pm UK time on the night before the first selected fixture kicks off.
Where can I see the exact times for a 2–8 player league?+
The complete timing table is available in the Prediction times section of the Rules.

Unique scorelines

The rule that makes FootballScoreClub different from a normal prediction game.

What is a unique scoreline?+
For each fixture, the first player to submit a particular scoreline owns it.
What does it mean to own a scoreline?+
If you are the first player to submit a scoreline for that fixture, it belongs to you for that round.

For example, if you submit 2–1 first, another player cannot later use 2–1 for the same fixture and score points from it.
Can I still submit a scoreline that somebody already owns?+
Yes, but it becomes a duplicate prediction and will score 0 points unless you change it before the deadline.
What happens if my duplicate prediction turns out to be exactly correct?+
It still scores 0 points. The player who claimed that scoreline first owns it.
Can I change a duplicate prediction?+
Yes. Duplicate predictions remain editable so you can change them to an available scoreline before the hard deadline.
Can I change a unique prediction?+
No. Once you submit a scoreline that is unique, it becomes locked.
What happens when I change a duplicate to an available scoreline?+
Once the new scoreline is submitted and is unique, you claim it and it becomes locked.
Does ownership carry across different fixtures?+
No. Scoreline ownership applies separately to each fixture. Someone can own 2–1 on one match while a different player owns 2–1 on another.

Scoring

How your three predictions turn into league points.

How many points do I get for an exact score?+
An exact scoreline earns 3 points. If the final score contains 5 or more total goals, an exact scoreline earns 4 points instead.
How many points do I get for the correct result?+
Predicting the correct home win, away win or draw without the exact score earns 1 point.
How many points does an incorrect prediction score?+
An incorrect result scores 0 points.
How many points does a duplicate prediction score?+
A duplicate scores 0 points, regardless of whether the scoreline itself turns out to be correct.
What do the stars mean in the results?+
★★ marks an exact score with 5 or more total goals and represents 4 points. ★ marks any other exact score and represents 3 points.
What does the green tick mean?+
The green tick means the match result was predicted correctly and represents 1 point.

Results & standings

What you see once the selected fixtures are played.

When are predictions scored?+
FootballScoreClub scores predictions as the selected fixture results become available.
Can I see everybody else's predictions?+
Yes. The round results show the selected fixtures alongside each player's prediction and the points earned.
What does the league table show?+
The standings show each player's previous points, current round points and overall competition total.
What determines the league leader?+
The player with the highest total number of points in the active competition sits top of the standings.

Joining & leaving

What happens when league membership changes after play has started.

Can somebody join after the league has started?+
Yes. They enter from their next eligible FootballScoreClub round rather than being inserted midway through a round already in progress.
Can joining a league change a prediction order that has already been created?+
No. A round's player list and prediction order are preserved once they have been created.
Can I leave after the league has started?+
Yes. You complete your current eligible round and are then removed from future rounds when your departure takes effect.
Do my previous predictions disappear if I leave?+
No. Your historical predictions and points remain part of the league's history.
Can a league drop below two active players?+
No. An active FootballScoreClub league must maintain at least 2 players.
Can the league owner leave?+
Yes, but they must transfer ownership to another active league member first.

League formats

How full-season and half-season competitions work.

What is a full-season league?+
A full-season competition accumulates points throughout the active football season before the final standings are completed.
What is a half-season league?+
A half-season league has two separate competitions. The first half ends at the season midpoint, then the second half begins with points reset to 0.
Do we need to create another league for the second half?+
No. The same private league and membership continue. Only the competition points reset.
What happens at the end of a season?+
The completed competition remains part of the league's history. The league can then continue into a new competition or end according to the league's selected continuation option.
